2. Certification Application
  • Application Period: Any time during the year
  • Documents required for application: Business license, factory registration certificate, manufacturing equipment list, inspection facility list, main materials management(components, modules, materials, etc.) list, copy of ISO 9001 certificate (if applicable), internal examination result (if applicable), result of nonconformity corrective action(if applicable), product certification application form, overall flowchart, small and medium-sized enterprise standard examination chart (for domestic companies), overseas manufacturing companies contract between importers(if overseas manufacturing company and importing company are co-applying for the certification), characteristics of the product applying for certification and current status of data (including floor plan, images, etc. of the product)
3. Audit Process

①Factory Audit: Consists of two examiners from the certification institution, is executed by the factory audit item standards, and will be eligible for product audit certificate after passing the factory audit without any incongruity.

②Product Test: Executes product examination through product test (qualified testing agency) based on the KS standard on the subjected item from the company that passed the factory audit.

4. Audit Fee
  • Application Fee: 500,000 KRW per one item(additional 250,000 KRW per 1 item)
  • Factory Audit Fee: 260,000 KRW per one examiner/1day + travel expenses
5. Processing Period Within 40 days after applying for certification(excluding holidays and product test period)
6. Certification Institution Korea Energy Agency New Renewable Energy Center
7. Expiration Date There is no set expiration date but the certificate will be maintained if regular audit is executed every three years based on the initial year of acquiring the certificate.
Certificate Benefit

Able to use the KS certification mark on the product and promote the fact that the company has been certified.

If needed for the promotion of use and supply of new renewable energy, able to request related central administrative agency or local government the establishment of the related plan, improvement of the system, reflection of required budget, and the use of a new renewable energy facility certified by Paragraph 1 of Article 13. (New energy and renewable energy development·use·supply promotion law enforcement ordinance Article 19 (the promotion of the use and supply of new ㆍrenewable energy)

Preferential purchasing system for KS certified products (Industrial Standardization Act Article 25)

Exemption of examination or formal approval, etc. (Industrial Standardization Act Article 26)

Special bid contracts (Regulations related to the contract with the State as a party Article 23)
